“Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) today announced that more than 2,500 aircraft are now equipped with Garmin Autoland, a major milestone achieved just over six years after the technology’s initial certification. Now available on more than 15 aircraft models, including piston-powered aircraft and twin-engine jets…

Designed for an emergency situation, such as a pilot incapacitation, a passenger can activate Garmin Autoland to autonomously land the aircraft with a simple press of a dedicated button. Autoland can also activate automatically if the system detects no pilot interaction. Once activated, the system calculates a flight path to the most suitable airport, while avoiding terrain and adverse weather, initiates a stabilized approach to the runway and lands the aircraft – without pilot or passenger intervention.”
