Market Forces Helped Decouple Emissions and Economic Growth

This Saturday, millions of people will abstain from using electricity during "Earth Hour" to raise awareness of environmental issues, while others will use and celebrate technology as part of the "Human Achievement Hour" counter-movement. Fortunately, there is news that participants in both Earth Hour and Human Achievement Hour can celebrate. The International Energy Agency has announced that global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions were flat for the third year in a row in 2016 even as the world economy grew, indicating a sustained decoupling of emissions and economic activity.
